Assessor Training for Educators

Program Overview:

Leads to up-skilling and even re-skilling in curriculum and assessment practices to narrow the gap between curriculum policy and assessment practices. This course has been critically acclaimed by educators across the continuum from grade R to 12 and FET Colleges for its contextual relevance and practical ideas. This course carries 25 credits.

Program Objectives:

By the end of this program, you will gain an understanding of the following:

  • To develop a deeper understanding of the underlying principles of Planning and Conducting Assessment in a school context.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the implication and application of the principles of Assessment for classroom practices and teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the procedural, practical, structural and institutional implications for assessment principles and practices within schools.
  • Design assessment activities in any school subject using creative lesson plans.
  • Use assessment principles to develop appropriate assessment tools, techniques and methods for assessment activities in the classroom.
  • Creation of structures, procedures and systems for sustaining assessment through professional learning communities.
  • To develop procedures to report back on recording and reporting of learners progress including setting examination papers and moderation of items using rigorous tools.

Methodology:

  • The training and development sessions will be done through practical workshops.
  • Learners will receive a Learner Pack, Portfolio, CD with exemplars and videos.
  • Continuing email and telephonic support is provided at no additional cost. On-site classroom visits will also be conducted.
  • All training will be conducted in English by our trained facilitators who have a proficiency in the language and the subject matter.

Assessment:

  • The 5-day training will lead to the completion of a portfolio for assessment and submitted for international accreditation by the ETDP SETA.
