Non Violent Classroom Management

Program Overview:
This program focuses on the development and implementation of a positive school environment. It focuses on practical ideas for developing and maintaining a violence free school. Participants will look at resolution of conflicts recognising signs of abuse, modelling positive behaviour, creating a welcoming and safe school environment and using intervening strategies to manage non-violent discipline strategies.
Program Objectives:
By the end of this program, you will gain an understanding of the following:
- The School Environment. Purpose and Goals of Violence-Prevention Policies.
- Code of Behaviour. Violence Prevention in the Curriculum.
- Procedures for Dealing with Violent Incidents. Dealing with the Aftermath of an Incident. Early and On-going Identification for Prevention.
- Staff Development.
- Home, School, Community Involvement.
- Duties of Principals, Educators, Learners.
- Suspension and Expulsion of Learners.
- Procedures for Reporting Violent Incidents to the Police.
- Record Keeping of Violent Incidents leading to Suspension / Expulsion.
- Reporting Violent Incidents to the Department of Education.
Methodology:
- The training and development sessions will be done through practical workshops.
- Learners will receive a Learner Pack and CD with exemplars and videos.
- Continuing email and telephonic support is provided at no additional cost. On-site visits will also be conducted.
- All training will be conducted in English by our trained facilitators who have a proficiency in the language and the subject matter.
Assessment:
- Evaluating applied experiential activities during the course and on-site action-learning activities documented to demonstrate competence in relation to the skills taught. A certificate of attendance recognised by the South African Council for Educators (SACE) with 24 notional hours workshop time and 24 hours on-site application.
