School Improvement Planning

Program Overview:
Principals are increasingly more accountable for the achievement of their students. This course identifies key expectations, processes, and structures principals and senior managers need to put in place to lead their school in improving student achievement. School Improvement is the single most important business of the school. It is the process that schools use to ensure all students are achieving at high levels. The foundation for school improvement includes positive results; meaningful teamwork; clear, measurable goals; and the regular collection and analysis of performance data.
Program Objectives:
By the end of this program, you will gain an understanding of the following:
- Creating a Vision: Exercise for Creating a Shared Vision
- School Improvement – Key Actions Checklist: Choosing Strategies , Implementing the Plan, Assessing the Results, Revising the Plan, Managing Change
- Indicators of Effective Principal Leadership in Improving Student Achievement: Leadership Skills, Critical Beliefs, Knowledge, Information sources, data collection, and data analysis strategies, The school improvement planning process
- Organising a School Improvement Team
Methodology:
- The training and development sessions will be done through practical workshops.
- Learners will receive a Learner Pack and CD with exemplars and videos.
- Continuing email and telephonic support is provided at no additional cost. On-site visits will also be conducted.
- All training will be conducted in English by our trained facilitators who have a proficiency in the language and the subject matter.
Assessment:
- Evaluating applied experiential activities during the course and on-site action-learning activities documented to demonstrate competence in relation to the skills taught. A certificate of attendance recognised by the South African Council for Educators (SACE) with 40 notional hours workshop time and 40 hours on-site application.
