Schools Audit Performance Award

Program Overview:
The award promotes awareness of performance excellence in schools. It also promotes the reflection on and sharing of successful performance strategies and the benefits derived from using these strategies. To receive an award, an organization must have an exemplary organizational management system that ensures continuous improvement in delivering quality educational services, demonstrates efficient and effective operations, and provides a way of engaging and responding to all stakeholders.
The award will consider how schools focus on improving people performance to improve an organisation’s performance. Schools will documents what had worked well and why, and identify barriers which may have inhibited schools progress. Schools will identify examples of good practice in their context for the recognition of the award.
Program Objectives:
By the end of this program, you will gain an understanding of the following:
- Provides a systems perspective for achieving performance excellence for the entire organization
- Requires identifying and tracking key results in all areas of importance to an organization: learning and service outcomes, customer-focused outcomes, financial outcomes, HR outcomes, process effectiveness outcomes, and leadership outcomes
- Focuses on the future for sustainable performance and educational leadership.
- Emphasizes the importance of organizational and personal learning and knowledge sharing, which includes continuous improvement as well as adaptation to change, best-practice sharing, benchmarking, and investments in educators personal learning and growth. Thus learning is directed toward being more responsive, adaptive, and efficient.
- Includes an increased focus on governance, sustainability, social responsibility, ethics, and strategy
Methodology:
- The criteria are used by learning sites for self-assessment and training and as a tool to develop performance and education processes leading to a Certificate of Excellence as a high performing learning site.
- Middle and Low performing schools will be provided with tools for improvement and Key Performance Indicators for development, in order to achieve a Certificate of Excellence.
- Schools will complete an internal self-assessment tool and ask another school to do an external verification. The completed evidence for assessment will be evaluated by an external Award Panel.
- The criteria are used by learning sites for self-assessment and training and as a tool to develop performance and education processes leading to a Certificate of Excellence as a high performing learning site.

Assessment:
- The external Award Panel will look for achievements and improvements in the required quality categories using a rubric.
- Learning sites that pass an initial screening are visited by teams of evaluators to verify information in the application and to clarify questions that come up during the review.
- Each applicant receives a written summary of strengths and areas for improvement in each area addressed by the criteria.
- The award has a 3 year shelf-life in order to profile the quality status of the school.
